Vietnam drop seven places in FIFA world ranking
Nhan Dan Online - Vietnam have dropped seven places in the FIFA August world ranking from 117th to 124th, which has just been released on the International Federation of Football Association's website.
Despite dropping by seven places, Vietnam remain in the top 20 Asian teams and second in Southeast Asian, behind Thailand, who rank 109th, two ranks down.
Thanks to excellent achievements in the AFC Asian Cup, reaching the quarter-finals of the tournament in its history, Vietnam made a big leap from 142nd to 117th.
However, after the AFC Asian Cup 2007, Vietnam and other Southeast Asian teams did not compete in any single tournament. As a result, their last month's rankings dropped.
Co-hosts Indonesia dropped by two ranks, from 127th to 129th.
