2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification (Vietnam)

The first round consisted of eight home-and-away series, featuring the 16 lowest ranked teams in Asia. The winners of these series proceeded to the second round.

- 29 June 2011 - Vietnam 6–0 Macau (Thong Nhat Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City)

- 03 July 2011 - Macau 1–7 Vietnam (Estádio Campo Desportivo, Macau)

Vietnam won 13–1 on aggregate and advanced to the Second Round against Qatar.

- 23 July 2011 - Qatar 3–0 Vietnam (Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Doha)

- 28 July 2011 - Vietnam 2–1 Qatar - (My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi)
