He will also be the national team’s coach from August to December, 2012.
After the two friendly games, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) will sign a four-month contract with Hung.
VFF has to accept short-term contract because all Vietnamese coaches who are outstanding candidates for the post refused to work full time for the national team.
The coach has confirmed to train the national squad from August, after the V-League finishes.
VFF’s Chair Nguyen Trong Hy said that the two sides are negotiating salary for the coach.
Earlier, VFF offered VND200 million ($10,000).
VFF is now waiting for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s approval of the recruitment.
Hung is seen as the leading coach in Vietnam at present.
He has worked for Da nang and Hanoi T&T FCs.
He used to be an assistant to Henrique Calisto and Falko Goetz, chief coaches of the national team.
He was the coach of the U23 Vietnam at the HCM City Football Cup 2010 and the qualifier round of the Asian Championships 2010.
