▬ June 8th, 2012 in China : China 3-0 Vietnam (Friendly)
(VOV) The
Vietnamese football team, under head coach Phan Thanh Hung, was
defeated 0-3 by China in an away friendly match at the Wuhan Sports
Center Stadium on June 8.
China is considered a tough rival for Vietnam, especially after it was only narrowly beaten 0-1 by defending world champions Spain in the final minute of its last friendly match.
However, the Vietnamese team started attacking and top striker Cong Vinh's hammering shot in the second minute offered a good chance to start the scoring but it was saved by Chinese goalkeeper Zeng Cheng.
China recovered quickly and dominated the match. In the 10th minute, attacker Gao Lin received the ball from a free kick in the left wing and delivered a powerful header to open the score 1-0.
Vietnam then produced two excellent counter-attacks in the 12th and 18th minutes, which caused great concern for the home team’s supporters.
However, China’s unrelenting pressure earned them a second goal in the 34th minute when right-winger Feng Rengliang got the ball from a long pass and dribbled it through the Vietnamese side before skillfully putting it into the back of the net.
Vietnam exhibited strong resistance in the second half and Cong Vinh once again faced Zeng Cheng but failed to narrow the scoring gap.
In the 64th minute, Gao Lin received the ball from the left corner and scored the third and final goal of the match.
