TTO- Being defeated in the semifinals two days ago, Vietnam and Myanmar take part in a playoff game today to decide winner of the bronze medal at the SEA Games football event. Two winners Malaysia and host Indonesia will play the final match soon today.

Despite of being injured and taken nine stitches on his head two days ago, Vietnamese midfielder Thanh Luong joined the starting list of the game.

At the 34th minute, Myanmar took a 1-0 lead following a free kick by Kyaw Zeyar Win from the left side. The ball was crossed into the box and goalie Tuan Manh and rival striker Kyaw Ko Ko jumped up. But none touched the ball and it kept on flying into the goal.

In the first half, Vietnam staged an attacking style but created no clear chance while Myanmar adopted a defense formation for counterattack.

Seven minutes into the second half, Myanmar doubled the score after combination of the duo Kyaw Ko Ko and Pyaye Phyo Do. Ko Ko dribbled the ball on the right wing, sped up towards Vietnam goal frame and crossed the ball into the box for Pyaye to head home the second one.

Myanmar extended the score to a 3-0 lead following an own goal by midfielder Hoang Thinh in the 72nd minute although he faced no challenge by a Myanmar player in the box when the ball was crossed from a corner kick from the left.

Ten minutes later, Myanmar launched a counter attack from the midfield. Kyaw Ko Ko received the ball and faced keeper Tuan Manh. He made a slot, sending the ball going between the legs of the goalie and rolling into the goal. 4-0 for Myanmar.

Lam Anh Quang scored a goal of consolation for Vietnam in the 84th minute. It was not the end. Vietnamese striker Van Quyet was booked a second yellow card and left the field at the last-gasp minute of the game. Ignoring the whistle of referee to pause the game, Quyet kicked the ball into Myanmar goal.

In the semifinals, Vietnam was beaten 2-0 by Indonesia while Myanmar lost 1-0 to Malaysia. In group B, Vietnam drew 0-0 with Myanmar who was left with 10 players during the last 30 minutes of the game. Vietnam topped the group with 13 points above Myanmar thanks to its better goal difference.

Vietnam has never won a SEA Games title in the past 52 years.
