U 23 Vietnam 2-0 U23 Timor Leste (2011 SEA Games - Group B)

09/11/2011 (Indonesia) U 23 Vietnam 2-0 U23 Timor Leste (2011 SEA Games - Group B)

Vietnam is taking a 2-0 lead over Timor Leste in the third match day at the 26th SEA Games with the two goals were scored by midfielder Trong Hoang in the 52nd minute and left defender in the 63rd minute.

Au Van Hoan made a long pass from the back line to Trong Hoang speeding up towards Timor Leste box. Hoang received the ball and made a short range blast but goalie Emerson Cesario saved it. The rebounded ball fell to Hoang again and he made no mistake to convert it into the opening goal.

11 minutes later, Hoan coordinated with striker Hoang Thien to invade Timor Leste box on the right before shooting a low cross to the far corner to double the score to 2-0.

During the ten opening minutes of the match, Timor Leste was the side that had better ball possession and pushed back Vietnam to defense.

Thanks to their better height and physical fitness, Timor Leste players performed rough fighting to create no space for skillful style of playing. Yet, at a fight in the 25th minute, Portuguese-born striker Murilo de Almeida played foul for punching in the face of the Vietnamese defender Chu Ngoc Anh and he immediately was given a red card by South Korean referee.

With one player more than the rival, Vietnam began launching more attacks towards the Timor Leste goalkeeper Emerson Cesario who is also of Portuguese origin. However, strikers Hoang Thien, Dinh Thanh Trung and Van Quyet missed three or four chances to convert into goals.

Timor Leste has altogether five overseas players coming from Portugal and three others from Australia. In the other match of group B, Myanmar crushed Brunei 4-0 to top the group thanks to better goal difference than Vietnam.

Vietnam will next take on Brunei on Nov.12 (4:00pm) and Laos on Nov.17 (4:00pm).
